AI in schools: a training caravan aims to build regional expertise
Launched in Rabat on 27 October, the programme targets education staff across twelve regional academies. Its launch is not yet evidence of learning outcomes.

A national training caravan on artificial intelligence and educational robotics was launched in Rabat on Tuesday, 27 October. The official Maroc.ma portal reported it on 28 October, citing a MAP dispatch dated the previous day. The programme brings together the education ministry and LOOP for Science & Technology, with support from the United States embassy.
Ilham Laaziz, the ministry’s director of educational and digital resources, said workshops would host 30 staff members at each stop. All twelve regional education and training academies are targeted. Participants are expected to pass on their expertise locally: the announced number refers to one stop, not the total number of teachers trained in Morocco.
Training people to support others raises a question of follow-up. To establish what changes in classrooms, workshop attendance must be distinguished from activities actually offered to pupils and from observed learning. The announcement describes how training should spread; it does not yet demonstrate educational effects.
Responsible use of technology is among the stated objectives. In practice, preparing lessons with AI also requires checking generated answers and protecting pupils’ data. The report reviewed does not provide a detailed timetable for subsequent stops.
