Larache lands more fish as market value slips
The port recorded 13,856 tonnes in the first nine months of 2026, up 23% year on year.

Coastal and artisanal fishery landings at Larache reached 13,856 tonnes from January to September 2026, up 23% on the same period of 2025. MAP relayed the National Fisheries Office figures in Hespress Français on 19 October.
Market value moved differently: MAD254.18 million, against MAD256.07 million a year earlier, a decline rounded to 1%. This measures the value of marketed catches, rather than fishers’ profit or prices paid by consumers.
Pelagic fish accounted for 11,232 tonnes, up 26%. White fish increased 30% to 722 tonnes. Cephalopods remained at 972 tonnes while their value fell 9% to MAD95.02 million, according to the same report.
Ports show different trends. In Al Hoceima, the same nine-month period saw volumes fall 14% and value decline 17%. One port’s results alone therefore do not describe Morocco’s coastal and artisanal fisheries as a whole.
