Morocco called for greater mobilisation of private capital for development at the 114th World Bank-IMF Development Committee meeting in Bangkok. Hespress Français and La Vie éco with MAP reported the position on 18 October 2026, during the annual meetings held from 12 to 18 October.

The Kingdom spoke on behalf of the eight-country group it represents. The statement highlighted guarantees and risk sharing, local capital market development and access to finance for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.

It also called for instruments better suited to fragile countries and small states, alongside stronger coordination of World Bank operations. The group sought a greater voice for developing countries in the institution’s governance.

These are positions advanced in a consultative body. The reports announce neither a new loan granted to Morocco nor funding immediately available to businesses. Implementing the proposals remains distinct from presenting them in Bangkok.
