Women’s U17 World Cup: Morocco open with a 4-0 win
Morocco beat New Zealand on 17 October. Germany also won in Group A.

Morocco won their opening match at the Women’s U17 World Cup, beating New Zealand 4-0 on Saturday 17 October 2026. Moroccan sports newspaper Al Mountakhab reports the result in its roundup of the evening’s matches.
The win gives the host nation a positive start in Group A. It provides a favourable first result for the rest of the group stage, but does not by itself guarantee a place in the knockout rounds.
In the other match in the same group, Germany beat Argentina 2-1, according to the same report. Germany therefore also began with a victory. Argentina and New Zealand will look to recover in the following rounds of group matches.
The opening evening produced contrasting scores: Al Mountakhab also reports North Korea’s 6-0 win over Puerto Rico and Poland’s 2-1 victory against Nigeria in Group B. Those matches belong to a different group and do not change the standings in Morocco’s group.
FIFA’s Technical Study Group will observe matches at this World Cup.
