Hassan Lachgar takes over as Socialist group leader in the House
He succeeds Abderrahim Chahid, appointed Minister of Employment and Social Dialogue.

MP Hassan Lachgar was chosen on 18 October 2026 to lead the Socialist group in Morocco’s House of Representatives. Akhbarona and Anwarpress reported that his selection came at the start of a working meeting at the Socialist Union of Popular Forces headquarters.
He succeeds Abderrahim Chahid, now Minister of Employment and Social Dialogue in Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri’s government. Both outlets reported Chahid’s attendance at the opening, alongside Kamal Hachoumi, the minister delegate responsible for preschool education and preventing school dropout.
The meeting focused on preparations for the new parliamentary session and organising the group’s legislative and oversight work. Hespress reported that Hassan Lachgar retained his Rabat-Chellah seat in the latest legislative elections. The selection concerns leadership of the group in the House of Representatives.
