Settat municipality has announced measures to ease crowding on buses serving Hassan I University from Monday 19 October 2026. A municipal statement relayed by Hespress on 18 October provides for services to start at 6.30 am rather than 7 am, local time.

The announced measures include additional buses on the university route and shorter intervals between services at peak times. A departure point is also to be designated at the station known as Defacto to reduce pressure on the route.

The announcements follow student protests over crowding and long waits. In accounts reported by Hespress, students called for more vehicles and schedules adapted to journeys between morning and afternoon classes.

The statement followed a meeting involving the municipality, provincial and local authorities, and the urban transport operator. It sets out measures to be implemented; their effect on waiting times and crowding remains to be observed after they take effect.
