Felipe VI and Queen Letizia are on an official visit to Ceuta on Tuesday 13 October 2026. According to Spain’s royal household, Juan Jesús Vivas received them at the Assembly Palace, where they met representatives of local society and the city government.

The institutional source describes the meeting as a demonstration of support for the institutions and residents. That intention should be attributed to the Crown. It does not itself announce funding or a new measure for managing migration.

When consulted, the remaining programme included a visit to Vicente Aleixandre school and a remembrance at Sidi Embarek cemetery for people who died at sea on 30 and 31 July. These activities remain described as planned, without anticipating their outcome.

The presence of officials and acts of remembrance carry public significance, but their effect on reception conditions must be examined separately. Following this issue requires attention to concrete decisions, resources and implementation rather than a general conclusion drawn from the visit alone.
