The Socialist Union of Popular Forces’ national council supports participating in the formation of the next government and mandates Driss Lachguar to negotiate for the party. Hespress and Al Aoual report that the decision was taken in Rabat on 10 October 2026.

According to Hespress, the council adopted the position unanimously. Al Aoual cites the meeting’s statement: the mandate covers participation arrangements, government structure and proposals for party members to take on responsibilities.

Both reports link the decision to the USFP’s electoral programme and the common ground it claims with the PAM and other forces involved in building a majority. The council calls for specific commitments with means of implementation and evaluation.

The vote therefore sets a direction and appoints a negotiator. It does not establish here any appointed ministers, number of portfolios or final agreement. The decision’s significance will depend on commitments retained after the talks, beyond the principle of participation.
