Ahwach in Ouarzazate: three days for performance and transmission

The fourteenth National Festival of Ahwach Arts is announced in Ouarzazate for 22 to 24 October 2026. Morocco’s Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication confirmed the dates in its 6 October announcement.

The proposed programme combines performances, discussions and training workshops. Organisers expect nearly a thousand artists. This is an announced participation figure, not attendance already recorded.

Ahwach brings together collective rhythm, dance, singing and poetry. Training gives the gathering a transmission dimension: practice can be shared among artists and generations beyond the performance itself.

Taourirt kasbah is among the announced locations. The festival is still ahead; the general announcement does not provide a detailed timetable for every activity. Keeping that distinction helps readers follow the programme without treating a cultural aim as an achieved result.
