Rabat mining congress puts industrial processing in focus
The congress opened on 6 October with mineral processing in Africa on its agenda.
Morocco’s third international mining congress opened in Rabat on 6 October, Maroc.ma reported on 7 October 2026. The organiser lists the event from 6 to 8 October.
Its theme addresses the processing of critical and strategic minerals in Africa, directing discussion towards industrial production using extracted resources.
Assessing the outcome will require separating intentions from projects under way. A partnership announcement alone does not demonstrate the construction of an industrial facility or the creation of jobs.
Follow-up should establish funding, timelines and environmental commitments for announced projects. Sources: Maroc.ma, 7 October 2026, and the IMC programme consulted that day.
