The UIR-IEF Maroc agreement announced this week raises the question of how training translates into decision-making practices.

UIR and IEF Maroc signed a five-year agreement in Rabat on 4 November, Maroc.ma/MAP reported on 5 November. A convention involving IMA also provides for a certificate in family-business governance.

In its 4 November report, LeBrief says the course consists of five modules over nine days. The partnership's duration should therefore be distinguished from the length of the training.

The value of this framework will need to be observed in practice: who prepares decisions, who checks them and how disagreements are recorded. Training can provide a shared vocabulary; its announcement does not yet demonstrate change within participating businesses.

Our reading is to distinguish gaining knowledge from applying it. Preparing succession also means clarifying everyday roles. The sources consulted describe the programme and its objectives, without providing results that would allow its effects to be measured.
